Catering Objectives

The BIS Catering Department aims to provide a varied and balanced diet within the school community in order to protect student’s health, promoting proper growth and development.

Help children and young people to improve their concentration and fulfil their potential both inside and outside school by encouraging them to have a proper meal during school lunches.

Aim to provide varied and high quality meals for school staff community at reasonable prices.

Catering Concept
Infant Meals (sample menu)
Infant students (Foundation 1 and 2, Yr 1 and Yr 2) receive daily set lunch menu in their eating areas. Food is served in buffet style.
Menu must be balanced, interesting, colourful and appealing using fresh ingredients. Serving size must be appropriate for the age group (4 to 6 years old ). Food must be cooked adopting healthy cooking method (grilling, roasting, steaming or baking ), low in sodium, minimize deep frying or using oil containing fat or trans fat. Using shortening oil/fat is not permitted.
The set menu should include:

Choice of main course ( fish, chicken or red meat )

Rice, pasta or potato dish to accompany the main course

Side dish such salad or vegetable dish must be available daily.

Vegetarian main course option must be available every day.

Fresh fruits must be served daily

Offer only milk or water

Other items approved by BIS Food and Beverage Manager

Tuck Shop
07:00 am: Breakfast on the run
09:50 am - 10:15 am: Snacks time
12:05 pm - 12.50 pm : Lunch (take away food: subway & sandwiches, packed lunch, fruits, drinks)

Subway Breeze
02:00pm to 05:00pm.
The food will available from Appetizer, ala carte menu, variety of bread and cakes.

Busters Café
Located in the new Secondary Library, Busters Café serves a variety of beverages and snacks.
Open from 07:00am to 16:00pm for the BIS community.

Food Allergies

Please report to BIS Health Officer if your children suffer an allergy and to which food.

Nuts are not allowed to be included in any cooked food.

Pork dishes will be labelled.

Payment Method
At present there are 2 payment methods:
Photo-ID card (Swipe Card)
The School issue Photo-ID card for yr 3 up to yr 13 students also staff.
This work in the same way as a debit card, i.e. students will deposit an amount of money before using their card. The minimum deposit is Rp. 50.000. Parents will be notified when any negative balance reaches Rp. 100.000.
Food Voucher
Available to buy at the school shop and swipe card office for parents and visitors only.
Vouchers come in Rp 10,000 and Rp 25,000 / books.
Note: Students spend long hours at school, school has a policy that the Caterer must not refuse to serve any students who do not bring swipe cards or vouchers. They are allowed to take any food and pay next day using Daily Vouchers (DV) form available at the primary and secondary office. The swipe card office also will charge the DV directly to each swipe card every day.

Throughout the school year, The British International School hosts numerous small and large events which may involve other International School.
