Humanities consists of Geography, History, Economics, and Business and Management.

Geography is concerned with the study of places, the inter-relationships between the human and physical processes which shape them and the people who live in them. It helps makes sense of their surroundings and the wider world  in which we now live.

History chronicles, investigates and interprets the past. It develops an awareness of the human condition, an appreciation of how human affairs have changed through the past, and a sensitivity to how people responded and lived through events in the past.

All students study both subjects at Key Stage 3, and although these are taught separately, there is a combined Humanities module on Indonesia that the students study at the end of Year 7. Geography and History are both elective subjects at IGCSE and IB.

Economics is offered at IGCSE and IB. At the core of Economics is the search for a better understanding of the workings of human society through studies of micro and macro economics. Another Humanities subject that is offered at IB is Business and Management. This is the study of the ways and means in which individuals and groups interact in a dynamic business environment. It examines how business decisions are made and how these decisions make an impact on internal and external environments.

But Humanities is not simply about studying these subjects in the classroom. We believe it is important that students apply what they have a learnt to understanding the modern world around them. To this end the Humanities Faculty have organised a range of very successful and exciting visits to various locations.
