At BIS we pride ourselves on providing the best possible care for all students. During a recent Ofsted inspection in 2009, this was judged to be 'outstanding' at BIS.
'At KS3 we provide outstanding care'
Key Stage 3 includes the year groups 7, 8 and 9 and at BIS the importance of a positive experience where students feel valued, is imperative in securing continuing success for a students remaining school years.
These pivotal years spent in Key Stage 3 are not to be underestimated and the growth students undergo both physically and emotionally are further recognised.
As a Key Stage we acknowledge the major differences for each discrete year and cater accordingly.
At BIS we recognise two major transition points in Key Stage 3; student entering the Secondary School into Year 7 and moving on from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 at the end of Year 9. The Key Stage 3 team has developed transitional programmes to support the students’ journey through these stages.
In Key Stage 3, each Tutor Group has a designated Tutor who meets the students every day and a Support Tutor who assists and deputises for the Tutor when needed. The Tutor is the first point of contact for students and parents and oversees the overall academic, emotional, physical and social development of students. The pastoral team meets regularly to discuss student welfare and progress.
At BIS we place great value on the home school partnership and effective communication between teachers, tutors, parents and students. We encourage any concerns, big or small, to be addressed quickly so that we can work together to solve them effectively. |
