New Students to the IB at BIS
All new students to BIS
-
are assigned a buddy on arrival who will show them around the school campus, provide a friendly face for the first few weeks and explain school routines.
-
meet with the Pastoral Year Leader at the end of each week for the first two or three weeks to review the induction period.
-
are given a questionnaire to complete about the induction period. This allows any immediate concerns to be flagged and discussed.
-
are given a Settling In Report After four weeks of teaching which comments on their effort, participation and gauges how well they are coping with the workload and subject matter.
In the first month the IB Student Council organises an IB Social which allows all IB students and the Tutor team to come together in a relaxed and informal way (usually Komodo Island, food, karaoke and dodge ball) early on in the term to encourage bonding.
